Fold and store bedding inside a pillowcase – it keeps it tidy and you'll never have to hunt for a matching set again.
In drawers, roll rather than fold your t-shirts or knits and then store them in neat rows so you can see the top of each one (rather than a stacked pile, which you'd need to rifle through to see everything underneath).
If you have a linen closet especially for storing bedding and towels, divide sets of bedding into baskets labelled by either room or bed size. That way you always know your king-sized from your double at a quick glance.
Wash all your socks in delicate lingerie bags so you don't lose them.
Always use dividers in an underwear drawer – it really does stop the carnage from ensuing when you can't tell your black pants from your black socks.
Minimise creases in shirts by giving them a shake and then hanging them on a coat hanger to dry. If they're white or light coloured, you could also hang them from a curtain pole for faster drying time. Otherwise, iron them when they're still wet.
If you have enough space, hang laundry to dry upstairs so it's quicker to organise and put away (even if your washing machine is in the kitchen).
A lot of wardrobe space is wasted and not utilised effectively. Consider adding more drawers instead or buy space-saving multi-item hangers where several pairs of trousers or blouses can hang in a cascading fashion.
It feels like much less hassle to steam clothes than to iron them, plus it saves space on an ironing board in a small flat.
The fastest way to dry a fitted sheet is by putting it on an extra spin cycle and then popping it straight on the bed with no duvet on top. It will dry in no time and without creases.
Buy a dual-compartment washing basket that separates your lights and darks. It saves so much time sorting them!
Buy air-tight vacuum bags to store spare duvets, blankets and seasonal clothes that you're not using. Not only does it save astounding amounts of space, but it also protects them from moths.
Add ½ cup (125 grams) of bicarbonate of sofa directly into the drum of your washing machine for even fresher smelling clothes. It will also make whites whiter! Though don't use it with fabric softener – the two will neutralise each other.
Hair straighteners make for a quick and portable iron, and are particularly useful for collars.
