Learning to solder broken joints

Soldering can save a lot of broken tools that have had their connection separated.

I just repaired a car polisher. I opened it and saw that one connection had been broken probably because it had been dropped.

Soldered it back together again and it's just like new. Those tiny wires are easy to break as they are usually just clamped in with a small connector.

The soldering irons are relatively inexpensive. You need flux and of course the solder.  It's not hard to do.

Yes I agree, we've become a throw away society in recent years, 'make do and mend' used to be a saying years ago

Also a multimeter for checking continuity and voltage. Not expensive. All my small batteries now are rechargeable except 9 volt.
