Raw pineapple can tenderize a steak before cooking.

There is an enzyme (bromelain) to break down muscle fibers.

Canned pineapple doesn't work because it's pasteurized.

Puree the raw pineapple and spread it on the steak and marinate for 30 to 60 minutes.

Rinse the steak after marinating and pat dry before grilling.

I tried it today.  It works.

Don't over marinate.  It will turn the steak to mush.
