Loft Finds

Currently having to sort my loft out, need access to wiring and other things under the floorboards.
Trouble is it's been a storeroom for 40+ years of treasure (and tat).
So just going to post some pictures of anything interesting I find

Had a Commodore 64 with disc drive back in the 80's
Think I got rid of that, although it might still be here somewhere?
Found the games and programs though.

First video recorder was a second hand Betamax.
Sadly that died the death many years back, but did unearth all the videos.
Would really like to watch the New York home movie again (not me, it was given to me by the guy I bought the video off. had video from the WTC and Empire state building on it from the 80's).

No idea how I ended up with so many books?
got bookcases full of them downstairs and just brought this lot down to find room for.

The home made singles box, used to transport the records round to friends houses back in the day.

Back in pre-internet days, these were essential for us music fans

[Lee]

For nostalgia fans, the wallpaper covered books.

The 'man on the moon' one is actually a 1953 publication, interesting but totally wrong.
But back in those days we really did think Interstellar travel would be possible before the end of the century

The reason for asking is, I don't know anyone who keeps a ladder hanging up like that in a loft

No terrace, wooden ladder so would probably rot outside and the only other place for it was in the hallway but we kept tripping over it, so in the loft seemed a logical choice

Found a pile of old camera negatives, just working my way through scanning them.
Loads of holiday, family, baby photos etc, but good to see things like these from around the early 80's
Was always a big music fan, and spent way too much money on records

Yes I was the same from mid 70s to mid 80s.


The memories those items conjure up is great sometimes

Back in the loft last week, and another box of assorted **** brought down 

Was it just me, or did everyone cover things in stickers?
Wherever you went in the 70's / 80's people would give you stickers, so it seemed a shame not to stick them somewhere

A few more football books to add to the pile I already had downstairs

Not sure why I've kept some of this stuff, but good for old memories.
Did sell loads in the 90's

Had an annoying habit of removing posters etc from old records and a few have turned up.
Still searching for the newspaper surround for the first Public Image single, which is somewhere up there?
Did find this nice Propaganda poster though

Another random unnecessary project I've been wasting too much time on is Digitising (or Digitalising?) a lifetime of old photos, as I've found all the old negatives it's been easier to scan those than take the old pictures out of albums.
Something modern generations will never have the problem with was not being able to delete all those really rubbish pictures you took, paying money to have them developed and printed and finding half of them were fuzzy images or pictures of the floor etc
