The St. Lawrence Seaway in Canada allows ships to enter from the ocean or other ports to the farthest inland port in Canada.

My city is Thunder Bay Ontario.

The prairie provinces grow grain and much of it is destined for worldwide ports.

The crops are grain and oilseeds for processing into bread and condiments.

This ship is the Hamiltonian which is 730 feet long at a grain elevator holding 3.5 million bushels of grain.

I cannot seem to be able to post the picture.

The insert image box goes to a link.

Following the instructions it states Click or drag files to attach them.  I don't see that.

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to go to the box at the bottom "click or drag files here to attach them"
and once the file is in there press the blue arrow and click insert, then post  :thumbup

But I don't get the box at the bottom to click or drag files here to attach them.

It seems to me I was able to post photos before.

Think I see what you mean  ;)
On the browser you get the option of reply (Pic 1)
Which then opens the "click or drag" option (pic 2)

On a phone it doesn't show up straight away?
you need to click "user actions" at the top of the quick reply, which opens a list including reply which will give you the "click and drag" option.

A few things have changed here but there are work arounds
Leave that to Dave to explain better  ;)
I think I made sense  :scratchhead   :)

Looks like I'm out of luck on posting photos.

This is what I get on reply.

There is no user options or anything.

Something strange has happened because I was able to post photos before.

On other forums I can click on the image button and insert the images from my computer. That doesn't work here.

My browser is Firefox.

OK, sorry thought it might help  ;)

I use Firefox as well
As far as I remember the insert an image thing at the top has always asked for a url which is why I've always used the drag and drop bit instead, but maybe I'm wrong  :scratchhead

I'm able to post images now using my IPad and Safari browser. I get the options. But not on my desktop. Too old I guess.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for helping Lee

It's not necessary to click on insert, especially if the image you have is small then it makes it difficult for others to see the text or details in the image. It's better for small images to just add them and then post so they're at the bottom when you're finished.

Thanks for the effort Dave.

I'm afraid the desktop computer is too old to support older browsers.

I don't get the options for attachments.

Camper I'm not about to give up. Can you answer a couple of questions for me please?

What version on Windows, if that's what you're using, is on your machine?

What web browser are you using?

I think I might know what your issue is but I want to replicate it first if I can. I have different versions of Windows set up in a virtual machine so I can test stuff.

Camper I'm not sure if this is your problem or not but have a look at this post https://www.quizland.co.uk/index.php?topic=9712.0.

In most cases where you want to include images in your posts you will click on the 'Click or drag files here to attach them' and it will happen as a popup. If Firefox is set to not allow popups then that's why you can't include them.

Try it out and let me know. If you're using an old version of Firefox let me know as I have a couple of old versions I can test it on...once XP has installed that is, it's taking hours.

One last thing. Do you have service pack 3 installed on your machine? I'm asking because I managed to download a standalone version of it from MS and if you haven't got it installed I can upload it so you download and install it.  It's virus free, but as it's 300+ MB I cannot post it on here.

This is how to find out

In Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7

1)  From the Start Menu, RIGHT-click on (My) Computer.  (It's only called "My" in Windows XP.)

2)  Left-click on PROPERTIES.

3)  At the top of the System Properties window, you will find both the version of Windows you are operating and which Service Pack is installed, if any.  Here's an example from Windows 7 (notice it has Service Pack 1 installed) and another example from Windows XP (SP3).

I don't have any pop up blockers.

I do have Service Pack 3.

I tried again but I don't get the option to post images.

So if I want to post an image I go to my Samsung Tablet (Galaxy Tab A 8",2019 })and it allows me to post images and seems to have all the functions of the forum.

If I'm not posting images I prefer to use the desktop and keyboard.  It's a lot simpler and I have a printer hooked up.  I'll fool around with the insert image option.

Thanks for the effort.  It may help for future users.

I remember in the good old days that browsers were designed for specific computers.

OK thanks for the reply. I'm still working on why it wont let you post images at the moment. If I get anything I'll let you know

Dave: Good News for my Desktop.
I downloaded an old version of Chrome and it works.
The shout box is messed up on the forum but I'm able to post images.
Check the one today for the Aurora Borealis Northern Lights close to my city.
Clicking on it will expand it.  They are beautiful.  They dance all over the sky. best observed away from city lights.
Thanks for all your help and your resolve about not giving up.

I had a breakthrough also Camper. I managed to get XP SP3 installed on my mini laptop.

So tomorrow I will investigate more. I have Firefox 59 and if necessary I can get earlier/later versions too.

What version of Firefox were you using?
